Deborah Bonnique, Education and Engagement Manager at HAOS, comments:
‘Young people in Handsworth will be inspired to follow in Greta Thunberg’s footsteps thanks to funding from The Ernest Cook Trust national educational charity.
Handsworth Association of Schools (HAOS) has received funding to support the employment of a ‘Green Mentor’ who will enable young people to lead the way as ‘Green Influencers’ on social action projects in their communities.
The Green Influencers Scheme was borne out of a desire to help young people realise their potential to positively impact the environment through youth social action. Green Influencers learn new skills and gain experience and confidence. Their projects benefit communities while helping them create lasting and meaningful connections with the natural environment.’
Find out more about the Green Influencers Scheme by clicking of this link GREEN INFLUENCERS. The Green Mentor post will allow HAS and local schools to build on work they have done in recent years through the Young People’s Parliament and the DENNIS EDWARDS AWARDS.
