Handsworth Job Fair

Lozells & East Handsworth Ward Councillor, Cllr. Waseem Zaffar MBE JP working with the Department of Work & Pensions (Handsworth Job Centre Plus), East Birmingham Community Forum and South & City College Birmingham has organised a Handsworth Job Fair to take place on Wednesday 19^th June 2013 (10am-3pm) at the Handsworth Campus (Soho Road) of South & City College Birmingham.

Over 20 employers will be in attendance recruiting for over 100 current vacancies on offer to local residents in Handsworth. It is expected over 500 unemployed individuals will be in attendance seeking to successfully apply for the vacancies.

Local Councillor and Chairman of Birmingham City Council’s O&S Committee for Social Cohesion & Community Safety, Cllr Waseem Zaffar said: “This is a great opportunity for local residents to successfully apply for over 100 jobs being recruited for by companies willing to come out into the community to find the most suitable applicants. At a time when it is incredibly difficult to find employment, our partnership has managed to attract excellent employers to come into the heart of our community to recruit from within it.”

A spokesperson for the Department of Work and Pensions said: “DWP are pleased to be working with Cllr Waseem Zaffar and East Birmingham Community Forum to help local unemployed people of all ages.”

Through working in partnership with Cllr Waseem Zaffar and Handsworth Job Centre we hope that we can support more young people to achieve their ambitions and progress in their lives.”
