0CELEBRATING BANNER THEATRE AND ITS PEOPLE
Date: Saturday 30 September 2017
Times: 2pm till late
At: Infamous Community Arts, West Bromwich
Infamous are delighted to invite you on 30 September 2017 to celebrate Banner Theatre and the people who inspired, created and supported the work of the company from its inception in the early 1970s.
With the generous support of The Heritage Lottery Fund, Dean, Jacqueline and a great team of volunteers have started to interview former Banner members, to collect their memories of their time at Banner, and of the historical events that inspired the shows they produced.
These interviews will be posted onto the Catching Stories, Making History website, which we will launch on 30 September 2017.
The day will also include discussions, performances by former and present Banner members, and an exhibition of photos, leaflets, posters and scripts of past Banner shows, as reflected in the Banner Archive (1973-2000) held at the Library of Birmingham.
This event will be of relevance not only to anyone with a connection to Banner, but also to those interested in community arts, community activism, the trade union movement and local working class history. Banner theatre’s history spans thirty years of industrial and social struggle in Birmingham and the West Midlands.
The event is free, come when you want and stay as long as you want. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the day and evening.
Dean, Jacqueline and the team would like to continue collecting your memories and so build a more complete history of Banner. Please let us know if you would like to be recorded over the coming months, and how we can contact you.
For further information please email Dean and Jacqueline on:
We look forward to seeing you on 30 September.
