HANDSWORTH COMMUNITY MARKET

Local entrepreneur and community activist Abi (second left in photo) started Handsworth Community Market because, having retired, she wanted to ‘give something back’ to her community.

The last one took place in Laurel Road Sports Centre on Saturday 7 October 2017, and featured local people showcasing local skills and talents, displaying products and promoting services available to the public. Those included organic vegetables, bakery (including gluten-free cakes), health and wellbeing products, cultural arts and crafts and various community services. The event was free to enter and it was good to see that it was well attended.

There are no firm plans for a regular event, however if you would like to participate in a future market, please contact Abi on 07757612788, or email her at: abicommunitymarkets@gmail.com

Abi, the community garden sounds very interesting. We published an article on the Handsworth Park community garden recently and it would be good to feature other such ventures. You have my email, send me some info and photos (.jpg, at least one in landscape format so we can use it for the banner photo). All the best, Gaelle

Hi gazelle.. It was gd to meet you.
    Many thanks for your contribution.
Appreciate your input to Handsworth & great activities happening here.
If you are interested I’m also involved in a voluntary community garden at crick lane also in Handsworth. Where a small group of local residents have cleared and created a green space right in the middle of Handsworth.
If your interested ease look at our f/book page The Crick Project… We can talk again if you can possible feature it in inside Handsworth… More info for residents. Cheers. Abi-community markets
