0BRUM ARTS & CULTURE BOARD TRAINING – GET INVOLVED!
An introduction to being part of an arts board, becoming a local arts leader and setting up steering groups for local arts organisations.
Do you want to help build your local arts scene and create more events and activities in your local area?
Would you like to find out more about how arts organisations are run?
Do you already have skills in project management, fund-raising, finance, publicity or event management that you want to offer to your local community in a voluntary role? Would you like to develop your skills and gain experience in these areas?
Then this is the training opportunity for you – you will meet new people and discover how you can make a difference in your local community.
These training sessions will give you an insight into what’s involved in being a member of a board or steering group for an arts organisation. We will explore the main responsibilities of the key roles of Chair, Treasurer and Secretary and will also talk about what other roles and skills could be needed on boards for different sized organisations, such as fundraising, event management and advocacy.
The same session will be run in different areas of Birmingham, so you only need to come to one of these introduction sessions. Further training will be developed and offered throughout the year so that by the end of the year you will be able to take up a role with a local arts organisation. During the introduction session we will do a skills audit of the participants and if you are keen to learn more we will then design a training scheme that meets your needs so you can feel confident taking on a role on an arts board. There are loads of great arts organisations of different scales in Birmingham that need people on their boards. They need people with a range of skills and knowledge about business and community, so you don’t need to be an arts expert.
